About this role

Aerostar SES, LLC is seeking a highly experienced Senior Field Geologist to lead large, complex environmental field investigations and remediation projects across multiple Department of Defense installations. This field-focused role requires extensive travel and extended stays near project sites. The Senior Field Geologist will take ownership for managing multi-disciplinary field teams.

Oversee field operations, ensuring technical quality and compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations. Plan, coordinate, and supervise large-scale field activities including soil, groundwater, surface water, sediment, and vapor investigations and remediation. Conduct real-time problem solving to adapt field strategies to evolving project conditions.

Manage and mentor field staff, including junior geologists, field technicians, multiple on-site subcontractors, and drilling crews. Communicate clearly and regularly with project managers, clients, and regulators regarding project progress and site conditions. Coordinate field activities with on-base personnel or off-site private property owners for site access.

Requirements

Professional Geologist (PG) license required
Minimum 10-13 years of demonstrated progressive field experience with complex environmental projects
Strong leadership skills and experience managing field teams of varying sizes
Expert knowledge of drilling, sampling, well installation, environmental monitoring, and remediation technologies
Proven ability to handle dynamic field conditions and make technical decisions independently
Current 40-hour HAZWOPER certification (with up-to-date 8-hour refreshers)
OSHA 8-hr Supervisor Training
Ability to travel extensively

Responsibilities

Plan, coordinate, and supervise large-scale field activities including soil, groundwater, surface water, sediment, and vapor investigations and remediation
Manage and mentor field staff, including junior geologists, field technicians, multiple on-site subcontractors, and drilling crews
Oversee daily site operations, ensuring compliance with work plans, health and safety plans, and regulatory requirements
Conduct real-time problem solving and adapt field strategies to meet evolving project conditions
Implement and enforce rigorous quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) procedures in all field tasks
Maintain detailed and accurate field records; review and approve field logs, boring logs, sampling documentation, and daily field reports
Communicate clearly and regularly with project managers, clients, and regulators regarding project progress and site conditions
Support the development of project deliverables, including conceptual site models, investigation reports, and remediation design plans
