About this role
Aerostar SES, LLC is seeking a highly experienced Senior Field Geologist to lead large, complex environmental field investigations and remediation projects across multiple Department of Defense installations. This field-focused role requires extensive travel and extended stays near project sites. The Senior Field Geologist will take ownership for managing multi-disciplinary field teams.
Oversee field operations, ensuring technical quality and compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations. Plan, coordinate, and supervise large-scale field activities including soil, groundwater, surface water, sediment, and vapor investigations and remediation. Conduct real-time problem solving to adapt field strategies to evolving project conditions.
Manage and mentor field staff, including junior geologists, field technicians, multiple on-site subcontractors, and drilling crews. Communicate clearly and regularly with project managers, clients, and regulators regarding project progress and site conditions. Coordinate field activities with on-base personnel or off-site private property owners for site access.

Requirements
- Professional Geologist (PG) license required
- Minimum 10-13 years of demonstrated progressive field experience with complex environmental projects
- Strong leadership skills and experience managing field teams of varying sizes
- Expert knowledge of drilling, sampling, well installation, environmental monitoring, and remediation technologies
- Proven ability to handle dynamic field conditions and make technical decisions independently
- Current 40-hour HAZWOPER certification (with up-to-date 8-hour refreshers)
- OSHA 8-hr Supervisor Training
- Ability to travel extensively
Responsibilities
- Plan, coordinate, and supervise large-scale field activities including soil, groundwater, surface water, sediment, and vapor investigations and remediation
- Manage and mentor field staff, including junior geologists, field technicians, multiple on-site subcontractors, and drilling crews
- Oversee daily site operations, ensuring compliance with work plans, health and safety plans, and regulatory requirements
- Conduct real-time problem solving and adapt field strategies to meet evolving project conditions
- Implement and enforce rigorous quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) procedures in all field tasks
- Maintain detailed and accurate field records; review and approve field logs, boring logs, sampling documentation, and daily field reports
- Communicate clearly and regularly with project managers, clients, and regulators regarding project progress and site conditions
- Support the development of project deliverables, including conceptual site models, investigation reports, and remediation design plans
